OXFORD City conceded twice in the space of a couple of minutes as they fell to a defeat at home against Alfreton Town.

The Hoops took the lead with 10 minutes on the clock, as Josh Parker took advantage of some ponderous defending and nipped in steal the ball and round Jake Askew in the Reds goal.

Reece Fleet went close with a rising drive from the edge of the penalty box, while Zac McEachran had a back post header blocked as City searched for a second goal.

After the break through, the Reds equalised after 65 minutes when Adam Anson powered in a header past Hoops debutant Jonathan Macaulay, a Sweden Under-19 international signed on loan from Watford not long before kick-off.

Moments after the leveller, Jake Day nudged the Reds in front when he poked the ball home.

The Hoops battled to find an equaliser themselves, and came closest late on, when substitute Corie Andrews ran clear but fired a foot the wrong side of the post.

City are 20th in Vanarama National League North, a point clear of the relegation zone, and make the trip to sixth-placed Buxton on Saturday.

In addition to Macaulay, the Hoops have also snapped up centre back Charlie Stirland on loan from MK Dons.

The 19-year-old has played three times for the Dons, with all his appearances coming in the EFL Trophy.
