The U’s ran out 4-0 winners at home against Billericay Town, with two goals scored in each half.

United made a strong start, with Leah Burridge firing over the crossbar from Ruby Sealey’s cutback, and Burridge slotting home but seeing the offside flag cut short her celebrations.

Eleven minutes before half-time though, a corner found Zoe Creaney at the back post, and she crashed a header home.

The lead was doubled four minutes before the break, when the U’s worked the ball forward and Burridge was in the right place to finish from six yards.

United kept up the pace in the second period, with Phoebie Poole producing a fantastic finish four minutes after the restart.

The U’s rounded off the afternoon with 10 minutes to go, as Adele Lindbaek produced a clinical finish.

United manager Sam Rose said: “It was a well-earned clean sheet and four good goals, and a really good performance.

“I though we were really good in the pressing moments, on the front foot and aggressive. When we had to defend the box, we did it really well.

“We played some good football and scored from a set piece. Some of the work we’d done in the week to refresh our attacking patterns and runs, that came out in the game.

“We’re really pleased that we’ve took another big step in the right direction. We’ve been able to back up the win against Watford last time out and just keep putting pressure on the teams in and around us.”

The U’s sit second in the table, three points shy of leaders Hashtag United.
