THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United started life in Sky Bet Championship with a dominant 2-0 victory at home against Norwich City.
JAMIE CUMMING
Pretty much untroubled in goal, but was there when required and claimed a couple of dangerous crosses – 7.5
SAM LONG
Recovered from a questionable headed back pass in the first half, and was exceptional at both ends. His cross for Cameron Brannagan to double the lead was exquisite – 8.5
ELLIOTT MOORE
Rock solid at the back and made a seamless transition to the Championship up against a top striker in Josh Sargent – 8
CIARON BROWN
His long ball down the left channel ultimately led to the opening goal, and alongside Moore, he handled the occasion brilliantly – 8
JOE BENNETT
Heroic block late on to get in the way of a shot, and particularly in the first half, his pressing was superb – 8
RUBEN RODRIGUES
The most advanced of the midfield three, and ran himself into the ground with his pressure on the Canaries players. BOOKED – 7.5
WILL VAULKS
Had a couple of efforts from distance, and was on corner duties too. Visible just how much of a leader and talker he is on the pitch. Looks to be a huge signing – 8
CAMERON BRANNAGAN
The addition of Vaulks in the deeper role allows Brannagan that extra creative freedom to go box-to-box, and it was the ultimate display. Sensational goal capped it off. MAN OF THE MATCH – 9
