DES Buckingham has revealed that Arsenal Women’s Joe Moore is the analyst working behind the scenes at Oxford United.

The U’s have been without a permanent first team analyst after James Krause left for Bristol City, alongside Liam Manning.

Isaac Alder has been supporting the first team, with Moore assisting in an unofficial capacity while he works his notice period at Arsenal.

Speaking to BBC Radio Oxford Sport’s The Dub podcast, Buckingham said: “In terms of the analyst, the name of the analyst is Joe Moore.

“I worked with him in New Zealand. He headed up the analysis team there for the senior men’s national team across the age groups, and worked at Fulham before that.

“He’s currently serving his notice period at Arsenal, where he’s been working with the women, leading the women’s side, but works heavily and links with the men’s side.

“He’s just working out a notice period at the moment, but he is working off-site with Isaac behind the scenes, to make sure that we’ve got everything that we need to prepare as well as we can before he gets physically in the building.

“I’ll be very happy when Joe gets in the building as it will allow us to do that little bit more, and then it can give us a chance to reassess what’s best for everybody at the end of the season.”

Meanwhile, Buckingham has further clarified the role academy coach Chris Hackett will take on within the first team.

He said: “The assistant manager is more around the job title itself. Chris Hackett will come in and join our first team coaching staff for the remainder of this season, and then it’s about how we work together.

“Whether you call it assistant manager or assistant coach, the way I’ve always structured first team environments wherever I’ve been, it’s about trying to work together, and if people are better at delivering certain things, they should deliver.

“That’s my role as the head coach, to get the best out of the staff we have.

“What I’ve really enjoyed is how well Lewis Price, Craig Short, Chris Hackett and myself have started working together.

“That’s the reason for asking Chris to stay on in that first team environment. There are people we could go after, and people we could try and bring in, but reflecting and taking time to look at the skillset that he brings, he complements what we already have.

“Having spent six or seven weeks working together, and seeing how well that can work, it makes sense now for him to join that first team.

“It’s going to be restructuring what we do and how we do it in the first team, to try and get the best out of everybody.”

Buckingham added: “It was my decision in bringing Chris in, and making sure he was okay to do what we were asking him to do for the remainder of the season.

“He’s happy with that, and I think it’s an excellent link with the academy as well. We’ve got a lot of young players that have been training and playing with us in the last couple of weeks, so that’s a good link there.”
