DANIEL Ricciardo claimed an extra point for the fastest lap as Renault enjoyed an excellent Belgian Grand Prix.
The Australian finished fourth, while teammate Esteban Ocon was fifth at the end of a weekend where the Enstone-based team had been quick throughout.
And the additional point for quickest lap was very sweet for Ricciardo, who climbed to eighth in the drivers’ standings.
He said: “It was a proper big lap – I used all the track and went for it.”
Williams’ driver George Russell had a fright as he collided with a loose wheel following Antonio Giovinazzi’s crash which forced the Briton to retire from the race.
He said: “I went to the left to avoid Antonio’s car and then his wheel came from nowhere and hit the front of my car which pushed me into the wall.”
Nicholas Latifi was 16th for the team from Grove, while Banbury’s Haas also came away from Spa pointless.
Romain Grosjean was 15th, two places ahead of Kevin Magnussen.
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton won the race to extend his lead in the drivers’ standings to 47 points.
Monza hosts the Italian Grand Prix this Sunday.
