TWO rowers with Abingdon School links put themselves in the frame for the Great Britain team with wins at the opening trials event, writes John Wiggins.
Charles Cousins, racing in the Abingdon pink of the Griffen BC, took time away from coaching to dominate the single sculls by half a minute.
Former pupil George Rossiter was in the triumphant pair and will be hoping he joins brother Matt in the senior team.
There was also local success at junior level for Wallingford RC, who took four victories at Henley Sculls.
Their girls J16 squad claimed two successes.
They have been bolstered by the arrival of Sinead Turner-Frick, formerly at City of Oxford, and she teamed up with Freya Sharp to win the J16 doubles.
They also joined Bethan Morrison and Olivia White to win the J16 quad.
The Wallingford boys also struck in the quads.
Matt Lane, Henry White, Dylan Shaw, Freddie Woodall and cox Luke Rayner won the J15 race, while the J16 category went to Noah Barlow, Philip van der Veen, Toby Francis, and Rhydian Watson.
Radley College tested their boys in singles but tasted victory with Harry Lyons, and coach, Tom Bowles in the Band 2 double sculls.
