PETER Akrill knocked more than four minutes off his personal best when finishing 25th at the Abingdon Marathon.
The vet 40 runner, who is a member of host club Abingdon AC, completed the 26.2-mile route in 2hrs 48mins 24secs, beating the time he recently set in Berlin.
Akrill was the first local runner home, while Sarah Dudgeon, who proudly displayed the No 1 bib, also impressed.
She was Abingdon’s top female athlete, crossing 258th overall in 3.17.15.
Meanwhile, clubmate Jack Shayler was in action at the Bud’s Run 5k, finishing second in an impressive time of 15mins 10secs.
