ABINGDON AC’s Paul Fernandez is in contention for the Vet 40 title ahead of the final round of the Motavation Series in Oxford tomorrow night.
Fernandez trails Woodstock Harrier James Bolton, who won the last round at Combe, by a point.
Clubmate Mark Lewy occupies third place in the V55 competition, with ten points.
In the women’s event, Abingdon’s Noel Blatchford is three points behind Eynsham’s Kate Williamson in the V65 standings.
The 4.47-mile race starts at 7pm from Oxford Harlequins RFC in Marston Ferry Road.
Meanwhile, Fernandez finished second in Sunday’s Headington 5, before winning the Barnes Fitness Harwell Half the following day.
Clubmate Owen Stepney (U20) was fourth in Headington, which was a county race, while Martin Ineson was 16th, and Mark Lewy third V50, as Abingdon’s men’s team finished second overall.
Julia Wiblin crossed as third LV45.
Paul Keating continued his current good form, finishing 16th in the Severn Bridge half-marathon.
