Cholsey's Andrew ‘Stanno’ Stanley, is in his final stages of training for the fight of his life as the undefeated semi-professional prepares to box for the Southern Area cruiserweight title in London on November 30.
Supported by his Howbery Business Park colleagues and members at South Moreton Boxing Club, the 25-year-old will enter the ring to face an experienced an opponent, Lee Renshaw, 35, in a fight being shown on Eurosport.
Commenting on the night ahead, Andrew said: “I’m feeling confident. Training has gone great. “There is a saying ‘train hard, fight easy’ and that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
“It is mainly about fitness to keep-up speed as well as ability. I’m on top of my game and that title’s already got my name on it!”
He has been through an arduous training regime to hone his fitness and make the weight of 14st 4Ib.
When Stanley is not training or coaching, he can be found in HR Wallingford’s building team for flood defence and water research.
