New Didcot Town joint-manager Ian Concannon expressed his delight after making a perfect start to life in the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow hotseat, writes Matthew Bruce.
The new managerial team of Concannon and Jamie Heapy oversaw a stunning 6-2 victory against Clevedon Town on Saturday in Calor League Division 1 South & West.
But Concannon was keen to stress that this is just the beginning.
“It was a very very good start, much better than we could have expected, but it’s just a start,” he said.
“We just picked a team we were happy with, everyone knew their jobs and we just went back to basics really.
“We told them to press high up the pitch, close the opposition down and put them under pressure.
“Then when we’re on the ball we urged them to be creative and express themselves, which they did.
“But the lads deserve all the credit – we didn’t really do anything. We just picked a team and sent them out to play.”
Their next test is a trip to Tiverton Town on Saturday.
