Sir, Regarding the report about Didcot's leisure facilities, I am at a loss to understand why Didcot, with three leisure facilities and a swimming pool, does not provide adequate provision for the town.
Here, in Wallingford, we are surrounded by towns with council-run swimming pools and gymnasiums - Didcot, Berinsfield, Henley, Thame and Abingdon.
Download any of the prospectuses on the Soll leisure website and you will see how Wallingford is a no-go area for council leisure services. We have only limited facilities at St George's Road and a swimming pool open for five months a year, weather permitting.
The Goverment would like us all to lead healthier lifestyles with more activity. Wallingford residents have to undertake a journey of ten miles by car to swim in Didcot.
I would be happy if our councillors would respond to my letter in this paper with their views on Wallingford's leisure facilities - or arrange a consultation meeting for all interested parties.
