A rare family snap posted by Oxfordshire star Gary Barlow has gone viral with fans taken aback by his son's height.

The Take That star, who owns a home worth a reported £6m in Alvescot, near Bampton, posted a picture of his wife Dawn and children Daniel, Emily and Daisy on Instagram.

Fans could not believe how tall his son Daniel, 24, appeared as the snap showed him dressed in board shorts and a polo shirt, resting his arm round his famous father's shoulder.

One fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Many parents at some point see one or more of their offspring grow up to be taller than them – but few can have experienced this."

However, in reality Daniel is not that tall at a reported 6ft 2in. In fact it is Gary who is below average height at 5ft 7in.

Recently the million-selling songwriter, who keeps his family life private, revealed that his children were not following him into the music business.

He told The Mirror: “The two oldest ones [Daniel and Emily] have kind of gone into medicine and physiology - studying strength and conditioning - and my youngest one, Daisy, I’m not too sure what she’s heading for, but again, she’s very studious… unlike me and my wife.”

In May, the star's Oxfordshire property was raided by thieves while the singer was away filming with Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway with Take That.

Police said they received reports of a burglary at the house, which he bought for £2.3million in 2007, overnight on April 7/8.

It was not disclosed what if anything was stolen or whether the star’s wife or family were at the property at the time.
