Flooding and fog brought continued travel disruption today with roads and a school closed in Oxfordshire.

River levels in Oxfordshire remain at very high levels as a result of persistent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Bert.

This morning the Met Office issued a yellow warning has been issued for fog until 11am.

Oxfordshire County Council also warned of ice and reduced visibility on many roads and urged drivers to take extra care.

Fire and rescue services were called to pump out water to try to reopen the road which is a main route into the city centre.

Abingdon Road, Weirs Lane and Ferry Hinksey Road were gritted overnight and again this morning to reduce ice.

Waste and recycling collections were going ahead as planned although delays were possible due to road closures and redirected traffic.

She said: "It is beautiful but lethal too. This was taken while securing the boats to make sure they come down safely as the water drops."

Even after the floodwater initially receded Oxford City Council asked people not to use the towpaths until they have been inspected and formally reopened with the 'towpath closed' removed.

The towpath from Folly Bridge to Donnington Bridge and the towpath from Donnington Bridge to the Eastern Bypass remain closed.

Marston Cyclepath, Willow Walk and the towpaths from Fiddler's Island to Botley Road, and from Osney Lock to Grandpont remain closed.

There are still 18 Environment Agency flood warnings in place across Oxfordshire, meaning flooding is expected and residents should 'act now'.

Property flooding is expected in Abingdon where river levels are high but stable on the River Thames, said the Environment Agency.

Abingdon's Tesco Extra store, which shut on Monday afternoon after the River Ock burst its banks, reopened this morning at 6am.

Lorries have now been brought in to clear mud from the car park at the store off Marcham Road.

The Cherwell School in Marston Ferry Road in Oxford was closed yesterday due to the floods and remained partially closed today.

The north site was unaffected and Years 10-13 attended school as usual.

In West Oxfordshire the road in Old Minster Lovell is now passable after a stranded car was removed overnight.

River levels have dropped significantly and Dry Lane in Crawley, where drivers ploughing through floodwater were creating bow-waves that ran into adjacent properties, is now open and passable with caution.

The A4095 between Bampton and Clanfield, which closed after Shill Brook burst its banks, has also reopened.
