The award-winning Wantage Band are set to entertain families with six concerts this Christmas.

Since 2021, the band has combined live music with cinema, centred on the festive film 'The Snowman'.

This year, they will stage six performances at The Beacon in Wantage, The Amey Theatre in Abingdon, and Arlington Arts Centre in Newbury.

The performances will take place at 1.30pm and 4pm on December 7 in Wantage, at the same times a day later in Abingdon, and at the same times on December 15 in Newbury.

Organiser Sam Wyne said: "Our band thoroughly enjoys performing these concerts each Christmas.

"It’s become the 'thing to do' for families in the area each December."

The concerts, which last an hour, will be led by the band's musical director, Chris King.

The audience can look forward to several festive pieces and a performance of the soundtrack to The Snowman, in sync with the film on the big screen.

Newly appointed compere, Sarah Roe, will be guiding audiences through each concert using makaton, a language programme used by those with communication difficulties, to help connect with even more families

Mr Wyne added: "We feel it’s important for all young people to have music in their lives and we want every part of our concerts to be as accessible as possible."

The band will also be joined by pianist Andrew McKenna and young singer Grace Clark, who will perform Walking in the Air.
