A 15-year-old girl's dedication to rugby has been recognised with a surprise visit from a Women's Six Nations player.
Mia Davis, from Faringdon, is a self-confessed rugby fanatic who plays for Supermarine and Oxfordshire under-16s and says "everything I do is about rugby".
Her commitment to the sport has now been recognised by Mia Venner, an England international and left-wing for Gloucester-Hartpury.
Ms Venner visited Mia's Supermarine club after hearing about her contributions to the rugby community.
She said she wanted to say thank you from England and Gloucester-Hartpury.
She presented Mia with a signed Red Roses shirt and tickets to see Gloucester-Hartpury in the Premiership Women's Rugby.
Ms Venner said: "This is in recognition of Mia’s commitment to women’s and grassroots rugby, not only as a player, but for her coaching and fundraising efforts too."
Mia's love for the game began at a Faringdon Rugby Club's inner warrior camp, where she decided she wanted to carry on playing the sport.
She now plays for Supermarine and Oxfordshire under-16s, and her passion for the sport extends beyond playing.
Her mum, Wendy Davis, said: "Rugby is pretty much her life - watching, coaching, and playing.
“By joining Supermarine and looking deeper into girls’ rugby, Mia decided she wanted to raise money for girls’ rugby.”
She took part in a club-to-club walk of just more than 30km, raising £600 and surpassing her expectations in the process.
Mia said: "I only expected to raise £150. But it’s not just about the money, I wanted to show that girls’ and women’s rugby is just as equal to boys and men.
"We deserve the same amount of funding and should be shown on the same level."
Her team manager, Christian Slade, said: "It’s so important to have someone like Mia in every single club across the country to get more girls passionate and involved in rugby.
"She has the passion to go out and fundraise and continue to fundraise."
Mia also helps to coach the ‘minis’ and said she feels she gives something to all the young children when they have a fun Sunday morning.
Oli Puttick, Supermarine under-6s coach, said Mia arrives at the sessions early and helps to set up.
He continued: "She doesn’t just come to train, but to help, bring the team together and inspire everybody."
Mia's dad and coach, Adam Davis, added: "Mia is one of those people that really inspires others.
"The way she speaks and the way she acts, she’s definitely a leader and a role model for other girls."
