Pupils and staff at Wantage CE Primary School donned their dancing shoes and got ready their ‘10’ paddles for a fun ‘Strictly Come Dancing‘ fundraising event in aid of Children in Need.
Children from Years 1 – 6 spent the last few weeks rehearsing their dances and took part in a semi final, before performing in front of the whole school and judges panel in the final on Children in Need day.
Andy Browne, headteacher at the school, said: “This is absolutely all about a fun event for the school, while raising money for a great cause at the same time.
"We started auditions back in October. This is probably the fifth year we’ve run this event and pupils are always really excited and keen to participate.
"Pupils danced in pairs and in groups. We also had a solo hip hop dancer. No formal ballroom or Latin was identifiable – but we all had a great time.
"Donations from the event are still coming in but we are expecting to raise more than £400, which is a fantastic amount! Our thanks go out to everyone who has supported us.”
