A housing association with 8,000 homes in and around South Oxfordshire has been awarded £3,000 to help it tackle anti social behaviour.

The chief constable of Thames Valley Police, Jason Hogg, and police and crime commissioner Matthew Barber have awarded the money to Soha Housing.

It comes from the Thames Valley Community Fund, which is a pot of more than £200,000 raised though the sale of lost or stolen items which could not be returned to their owners once they had been reclaimed by the police.

The money was offered as grants or donations to charitable organisations and other community groups at an event on October 31.

Emma Langstaff, head of localities at Soha, said: "We will use the Thames Valley Police Community Fund grant on digital door viewers, GuardCams, (an integrated floodlight, camera, and voice recorder) and towards sophisticated mobile CCTV installations which we can deploy across any of our five localities.

"Soha is committed to creating communities where residents feel safe and can live peacefully and this kit will enable us to work with residents to prevent and manage unacceptable or anti social behaviour that may occur in their neighbourhood."

Soha divided its territory into five ‘localities’ around two years ago.

Each area has its own community neighbourhood officer and rents, repairs, and estates officers as well as other specialists.
