Public notices are adverts placed by councils and other local authorities to inform people of developments in their areas.

They can cover a wide variety of topics that may impact your life.

They can include planning applications and appeals, road closures or proposals by pubs or nightclubs hoping to change their opening hours or make other variations.

The purpose of a public notice is to make sure anybody - either an individual or a group - with an interest has an opportunity to find out about and comment on the proposal before a decision is made on whether to allow it to go ahead.

Continued works at Oxford Rail Station and bridge: Due to the continued works the following road closures and parking suspensions will come into force on November 18.

The works also affect utility services passing beneath the bridge, and complications on various fronts have affected the provisionally planned timescales.

The anticipated completion date is yet to be announced.

The latest large commitment is to replace the water main in Botley Road between Roger Dudman Way and Mill Street which will be undertaken between November 2024 and April 2025.

Vehicles will continue to temporarily prohibited from:

1. Botley Road from Mill Street to Becket Street

2. Becket Street from Frideswide Square southwards for 35 metres

3. Parking suspended in Becket Street as above,

4. Cripley Road, from Botley Road to Cripley Place,

5. Abbey Road from Botley Road to Cripley Place,

6. Cripley Place, for its whole length,

7. Roger Duman Way.

Cripley Road, Cripley Place and Abbey Road will be used for temporary bus turning areas and passenger drop-off and holding points.

This rectangular route will also be variously used for local traffic diversions during closures of sections of Botley Road.

Signage will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Restrictions may be subject to changes of days and times of operation to allow public use of the roads. They will be regularly monitored and tailored for best effect.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative routes for traffic are signed via the A34 Oxford ring road.

Headington footpath closure: Footpath No.320/11 1/20 will be closed from November 13 because of the development of Oxford University's Institute for Global Health building at Old Road campus, east of Mileway Gardens and next to the NDM Research Building.

The temporary diversion is required for the course of the construction period but a permanent (already approved) realigned path will be installed at the earliest opportunity.

The new Institute will bring together staff from the University’s Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health and the Nuffield Department of Population Health. The Centre for Tropical Medicine is currently located within the temporary building.

Outline planning permission was granted in 2013 for five new plots at the Old Road Campus. The Institute for Global Health will be situated on the northern boundary of the campus.

The work is anticipated to be completed on November 14, 2025.
