Pupils at Millbrook School in Grove have a new place to rest in the playground after the school was presented with a multi-coloured recycled plastic bench.

The top prize was given as part of the council’s successful Litter Bug Detectives Trail where the Vale of White Horse District Council’s waste team ran children’s activity trails during the school summer holidays.

The winner, Emilia, completed the trail with her older sisters Niamh and Georgia and her school was entered into the draw for the prize. As top prize winner, Emilia also won vouchers for herself.

Mark Coleman, cabinet member for environmental services and waste at Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “This has been a great success with residents in the past and seemed to be just as popular this year, offering an activity that is free, outdoors and educational for young children during the summer.

“It also offers the council a great opportunity to talk about waste and litter and how we all need to reduce both.”
