“We call on all council members and community members to actively participate in bringing this strategy to life.”

The document sets out short, mid and long term projects. One is to proceed with a restoration of the town hall through a fundraising campaign and grant applications.

Also establishing a youth council and hosting three public climate events to encourage low carbon lifestyle changes.

The town council also wants to work with Wild About Wallingford to plant two orchards, with a further one in Winterbrook meadows. Also a public consultation on pedestrianisation of cobbled area outside of the town hall.

Mr Holder added: “Wallingford Town Council has identified the need for a strategic approach to address the various challenges and opportunities facing the town and community.

"By creating a structured plan, we aim to improve the quality of life for all residents, ensure efficient use of resources, and build stronger relationships with local community groups and authorities.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this strategic document. Together, we will achieve our goals and create a thriving future for our town.”

In the longer term, the vision sets out improvements to the Market Place to make it safer. They also want to see increases in visitors to the town's attractions such as Wallingford Museum and the Heritage Railway.

A vision for encouraging active travel with less vehicle access to the town has also been addressed in a bid to make the town centre less congested.
