A new map showing the best ways to explore the Cotswolds without a car has been created.

The trail map, developed by the Oxfordshire Community Rail Partnership (OxCRP), highlights Moreton-in-Marsh Station as a focal point for car-free travel.

Aiming to promote an alternative mode of transport for both locals and visitors, it focuses on the strong travel links across Oxfordshire and the neighbouring counties of Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.

With reports of high road traffic volumes in Cotswold towns and villages, OxCRP said the map arrives at a fitting time to encourage the use of public transport.

It provides a detailed guide of the area's travel network, including popular walking and cycling routes, bus connections, and rail links.

A supporting video showcases car-free access to some of the Cotswolds' most popular attractions, as well as the countryside.

Moreton-in-Marsh, one of the most popular gateway stations to the Cotswolds, is served by the 801 bus, which connects the wider area, stopping at popular spots such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Norton, Andoversford, Charlton Kings, and Cheltenham.

Hannah McDonnell, executive director of OxCRP, said: "We're delighted to launch this initiative, which reflects our dedication to both responsible tourism as well as sustainable and accessible travel.

"The Cotswolds has so much to offer, and we want people to be able to experience it in an environmentally responsible way."

The project was made possible through support and funding from Great Western Railway and Pulhams Coaches.

Alex Chutter, area director of Pulhams Coaches, added: "We're excited to be part of this project, showcasing the fantastic connections between our bus services across the Cotswolds along with the other transport options available in the area.

"We're committed to providing comfortable and convenient travel for all, and this initiative encourages people to leave their cars behind."
