Three fire crews raced to a dramatic crash on the M40 which hospitalised two people.

The incident occurred at around 1.16pm on Thursday, September 26 when a car fire broke out following a major crash on the M40.

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Thame Fire Station were supported by two crews from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Both the driver and passenger had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries as police also attended and closed the road.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Using a high-pressure hose reel jet the fire was quickly extinguished.

“The driver and passenger had managed to exit the vehicle with only minor injuries.

“They were both taken to hospital as a precautionary check by South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

“Colleagues from Thames Valley Police assisted with the road closure to allow crews to work safely.”
