A new operations director has been appointed at Stagecoach West.

George Sloan, who previously managed operations in Oxford, will now oversee the company's operations across the west of England.

Mr Sloan started his career at the bus company in 2018 on the graduate scheme.

He has since worked at the Northampton, Carlisle, Fenstanton, and Peterborough depots before taking charge of operations in Oxford in 2022.

Managing director of the company, Chris Hanson, said: "George brings a wealth of experience and grounding in Stagecoach procedures alongside a passionate enthusiasm for developing the business and prioritising our staff and customers.

"I look forward to seeing the amazing things George will deliver in this strategic role."

In his new role, Mr Sloan will lead the operations team across multiple depots and outstations, overseeing around 450 vehicles and leading a team of more than 750 members of staff.

Mr Sloan said: "I’m delighted to be appointed as the operations director for Stagecoach West.

"It is a privilege to be leading an excellent team of people who are passionate about bus services in our region.

"I’m thoroughly looking forward to working with our partners, and key stakeholders to deliver further improvements to bus services in the communities in which we serve."

The position was previously held by current Stagecoach West managing director, Chris Hanson.
