An Oxfordshire MP candidate has suggested the favouring of Ukraine over Afghanistan in relation to refugees "makes no sense" during an appearance on BBC Question Time.
Liberal Democrat Layla Moran, who has represented the Oxford West and Abingdon constituency since 2017, answered questions from audience members last night (June 27) along with a panel of three other politicians from the SNP, Labour and Conservative Party.
Among the discussion points were questions such as "how do we tackle knife crime?" and "how do we prevent asylum seekers dying in boat crossings in the Channel?".

Ms Moran said: "You don't choose (a country) above the other - and there has been (that happening).
"I've been strongly supportive of the Ukraine scheme. I had a Ukrainian living with me. We're now best friends.
"I love that scheme and there are problems and it needs reforming.
"But it made no sense why Afghan interpreters were not allowed to come across on the Afghan scheme and actually there are many other countries in the world that desperately need safe and legal routes."
The Afghan interpreters worked for the British Army in Afghanistan under Taliban rule but hundreds had their applications to seek asylum in the UK rejected after troops withdrew.
The incumbent MP was asked by host Fiona Bruce, an Oxford University graduate, whether she thought there needs to be a limit on the numbers of asylum seekers to which Ms Moran said "there has to be coordination".
Yesterday's Question Time show was hosted at the same time hustings were held for Oxford West and Abingdon candidates at St Barnabas Church in Jericho.
Organiser John Mair said: "A total of 20 denizens came to hear five of the candidates for the Oxford West and Abingdon parliamentary seat pitch to them. Just four showed (the Conservative candidate being missing).
"All in all, a very democratic exercise.
"The public went away with much brain candy, the candidates with dreams of Westminster.
"Jericho and the UK will have the answer on Thursday, July 4 at 10am."
The candidates who attended the hustings were the Green, Reform UK, Labour and proxy Liberal Democrat representative Theo Jupp, who is also the MP candidate for Oxford East.
A full list of candidates for the Oxford West and Abingdon constituency is as follows: Anni Byard - Social Democratic Party; Chris Goodall - Green Party; James Gunn - Reform UK; Layla Michelle Moran - Liberal Democrat; Josh Phillips - Independent; Vinay Raniga - The Conservative Party candidate; Ian Oliver Michael Shelley - Christian Peoples Alliance; Stephen Edwin Dominic Webb - Labour Party.
