Children in South Oxfordshire have put play back on the agenda with a special day exploring outside.

Students at The Manor Prep in Abingdon came together on Tuesday, June 11, to celebrate the United Nations' first ever International Day of Play.

The school said it fully endorsed play - and said it was "an integral part" of the students' day.

A school spokesperson said: "Play is a fundamental right and a great way to learn as well as develop social, psychological and emotional skills and enhance well-being.

"The Manor Prep School, Abingdon, fully endorses play; in fact it is an integral part of every day!

"Forest School is a great example, where children are able to challenge themselves and exploring nature opens their eyes to endless learning and creativity through play.

"The smiles on the children’s faces say it all.”
