A new dessert parlour has opened today on Abingdon High Street.

Love Desserts already has cafes in Bicester, Banbury and Hayes in Middlesex, and started serving customers at the new shop at about 11am.

"It's been busy so far - we must have had about 80 or 90 customers in the first couple of hours," said manager Shahrooz Saleem.

There is also a new ice cream parlour due to open just around the corner in Bath Street.

The Ice Cream Cafe will serve ice cream, waffles, pancakes and milkshakes.

Santino's Grill, a new burger bar, is to open alongside it, and one of the owners of both businesses said earlier this month they would both be open soon.

In February, Abbey Fresh Food, selling fruit and vegetables, bread and meat opened in the large retail unit in the High Street previously occupied by Abingdon Sports.
