Six schools in Oxfordshire have confirmed they will close or partially close on Wednesday and Thursday because of industrial action.
Thousands of Unison and Unite members are expected to take part in the two-day strike in a dispute over pay.
Teaching assistants, refuse collectors, cooks, cleaners, social workers, librarians and other public sector staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are all expected to walk out.
Across Oxfordshire, this is expected to involve an estimated 3,000 union members.
So far, Bardwell School in Bicester, Didcot Girls' School, Kingfisher School in Abingdon, and Iffley Mead School, Northern House School and Northfield School, all in Oxford, are all expected to close or partially close.
Oxfordshire County Council said the impact of the strike on public services was expected to be "limited".
