A severe weather warning was issued this afternoon for Oxfordshire.
Forecasters said up to 25mm of rain could fall in three hours in some places with the possibility of localised flooding.
Meanwhile, traffic in the county has been hit by delays.
Traffic was reported as slow following a crash on the southbound M40 at junction 11 near Banbury and in both directions between junctions nine and ten, leading to delays on the A34.
There are reports of one lane of the A34 blocked and very slow traffic due to a broken-down vehicle on the Oxford Western Bypass northbound before the Peartree Interchange and congestion on the A423 Southern Bypass Road at the Hinksey Hill Interchange.
