A brass band organisation in Wantage will mark its 51st anniversary with a fair-style celebration next month.
Wantage Silver Band will host the event on October 7 at its premises on Tugwell Field with live music, games, and refreshments throughout the day.
Founded in 1972, the band is recognised as one of the largest brass band organisations in the UK.

A half-centennial celebration was held last year, and the success of the event encouraged the organisation to continue it as a new-found tradition.
This year’s event will also mark the opening of The Sykes Hall, its second band hall.
Chair of trustees Eleanor Turner said it was “a day we’ve been excited about for some time.”
“This is a great fundraiser for the band and will be a brilliant chance for the community to see our new hall and hear many of our bands and their fantastic music,” she continued.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has dedicated their time and donated generously to help with its success.”
Starting at noon, the celebration will see performances from eight of the nine bands that make up the organisation.
There will also be a tombola and raffle, games, and a bar, all run by volunteers in the organisation’s 200+ membership.
Shortly before the event finishes at 7pm, town mayor Angela Dunford will present the annual awards, which recognise members and supporters who have gone above and beyond for the organisation.
