Oxford West and Abingdon MP Layla Moran has urged the government to keep to its funding commitments after plans to improve a major A34 junction were approved.
Plans to upgrade Lodge Hill Interchange, to the north of Abingdon, were approved this week and will lead to the extension of a shared cycleway on the eastern length of the A4183 and the inclusion of a Toucan Crossing on the A34 slip road.
Ms Moran, who previously criticised the government for reneging on its promise of a £9 million contribution towards the project, has since called for an "end" to "these years of broken promises" and to "deliver the infrastructure that people and businesses in Abingdon deserve”.

She said: “This is a vital piece of infrastructure which will reduce traffic and air pollution, and support housing developments in and around Abingdon.”
In 2017, plans were approved for 900 new homes on Twelve Acre Drive and there has also been a series of other smaller housing proposals in the area.
Further upgrades which were proposed in the planning application included a new side priority road for cyclists across the northern and southern roundabouts’ pond access.
The county council is expected to receive money from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, in addition to Growth Deal funding and funding from developers.
