AN Oxfordshire MP has paid tribute to a popular Indian takeaway owner who recently passed away.

David Johnston, MP for Didcot and Wantage, honoured Indian Dream owner Hasnath Miah, who died after suffering a stroke last week, in parliament.

He said: “I have to start on my own note of sadness on behalf of the local community that I represent because last week we lost someone called Hasnath Miah who was a ort of champion and local hero in Didcot which I live.

“He had been homless for part of his life and he been helped by the Didcot community through free meals to get back on his feet and he swore that if he ever in a position to help other people he would do so.

“He had a hugely successful restaruant called Indian Dream which during the pandemic began gaving out free meals to key workers but also to the homless and young carers, in the same way he jad been helped with free meals – he gave over 10,000 free meals away.

“He very sadly died at the age of just 40 having had a stroke about two weeks ago and did not recover.

“There has been a huge outpouring of grief in the Didcot community for him. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family.”
