TWO new post box toppers have popped up in Didcot by anonymous crocheter Yarnsy.

The creator, who has chosen to stay anonymous and goes by the name “Yarnsy”, decorates the post box in Broadway as well as one in Haydon Road.

Her previous creations include unicorns, a Christmas-themed one, monkeys, one in memory of the Queen and another in memory of the town’s postman.

This month, Yarnsy has created a ‘mischievous dwarf’ to celebrate Halloween. It is wearing a purple hat, green cloak and is brewing a potion.

Yarnsy said: “As with all my toppers I’m looking to spread joy so the spell that’s being cast is full of love and best wishes.

“The dwarf itself took about two weeks to complete but he was such fun to see coming to life. This one’s in place on Haydon Road.”

The accompanying poem reads: “Hubble bubble, toil and trouble, cauldron boil and cauldron bubble.

“Let me cackle in your ear, as I’ve a spell for your my dear. May your road be a kind one, and may you find both peace and laughter, and live with joy and love ever after.”

Her second creation is on Broadway and is honour of Remembrance Day. It features a poppy wreath and the bust of a soldier.

The creation took about three weeks in all to complete and the accompanying poem is ‘For the Fallen’ by Laurence Binyon.
