The British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed a person was pronounced dead after being hit by a train near Didcot.

A BTP spokesperson said: British Transport Police were called to the line near Steventon at 8.09pm yesterday evening (Monday, October 10) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Emergency services were on the scene and National Rail closed all lines between Didcot Parkway and Swindon.
