Grove vehicle event raises £3,500 for charity

The event, which took place at Grove Recreation Ground in Grove in Cane Lane on Saturday (23), Grove, included about 60 cars, 12 large trucks and a number of motorbikes.  

There was also food and entertainment stalls, a bar, three Transformer cars and an Optimus prime robot.

All the funds raised from the event are going to a brain tumour research charity in Carlie Buchanan's name as she is currently battling a brain tumour.

She spent half the day at the event running the raffle stall and said she grateful with the money raised and the amount of people who showed up.

Mike Hissey, an organiser of the event, said: “It was a really good day, it went really well.

“There was about 3 to 4,000 people who attended, there were lots of families having fun in the sun with picnics and enjoying the weather.

“The total raised will be about £3,500 once the rugby club had added their funds in - Carlie was really chuffed.

“It was a really decent day and it was good to see people out enjoying themselves – it was very busy.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who attended and for all the money raised.”
