THE first ever female vicar has been welcomed to Wantage this month.
Katherine Price, who moved to town at the end of June with her husband Laurence and their son Austin, will be the new vicar at Saints Peter and Paul Church and at Holy Trinity Charlton.
Everyone in the town is invited to attend the welcome service for Mrs Price, which will take at Saints Peter and Paul Church at 7.30 on Thursday, July 21.

The Bishop of Dorchester will preside and MP David Johnston, Mayor Jim Sibbald and the Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Dr Dennis Blease, are expected to attend.
Revd Price succeeds Philip Wells who resigned last year. She comes from Oxford University, where she served for five years as Chaplain of The Queen’s College, after serving her curacy at Grimsby Minster.
She said: “I am honoured to have been selected as vicar of this wonderful parish with its rich Christian history stretching back almost to the days of King Alfred.
“I have been so warmly welcomed that I already feel at home and I’m looking forward to being part of this community, working with the two churches in our parish to serve this town and its people through the changes and challenges of the coming years.”
