A woman who spent 39 years organising a village festival has announced she will be stepping down.
Janet Warren, 74, is a former teacher and organiser of the Stanford Festival since 1983. She has overseen the popular event, which sees 2,7000 people attend.
On Sunday June 19, there was a ‘Songs of Praise’ on Church Green led by the vicar, the Revd Paul Eddy, the Wantage Silver Band played, and there was a surprise presentation to Mrs Warren.

Mr Eddy said: “Janet is at the very heart of life in Stanford. Whether as a parish councillor, former Chair of the School Governors, Secretary of the Church PCC, managing the Village Hall, or helping co-ordinate the village’s Volunteer Taxi Scheme to hospital/GP appointments, Janet is behind it all.”
