Oxfordshire road closures to watch out for this week

Notes on how long delays are expected to last, and some extra information, have been added by National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.

Oxford 

Drivers in and around Oxford will have six National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A34, from 8pm June 8 to 6am June 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound, Botley to Peartree, Lane closures for signage repairs, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

• A34, from 8pm June 1 2022 to 6am March 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree Interchange, major works advance warning signage only for Oxfordshire County Council works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A34, from 8pm June 16 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree to Kidlington, Lane closures for barrier repairs.

• A34, from 9pm June 17 to 6am June 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound, Peartree, lane closure for structures works.

• M40, from 9pm June 19 to 6am June 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 8a to junction 9, Lane closure for maintenance work.

• A34, from 10pm June 23 to 6am August 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree to Islip, diversion route only for Oxfordshire County Council works.

Vale of White Horse

Drivers in and around the Vale of White Horse will have 12 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A34, from 8pm June 12 to 6am June 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Botley to Hinksey, Lane closure for vegetation works.

• A34, from 8pm April 28 to 6am June 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound, South Hinksey, slip road and lane closures for signage repairs, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 8pm June 8 to 6am July 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Botley to Hinksey Hill, Lane closures on carriageway and slip road for Oxfordshire County Council works.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A34, from 8pm June 13 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound, Hinksey Hill to South Hinksey, Lane closures on entry slip road and carriageway for BT works.

• A34, from 10pm June 13 to 6am June 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Hinksey Hill, Lane closures for Thames Water third party works, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 8pm June 16 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree to Kidlington, Lane closures for barrier repairs.

• A34, from 8pm June 16 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, South Hinksey to Hinksey Hill, slip road and lane closures for drainage work, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 8pm June 17 to 6am June 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Hinksey Hill, slip road and lane closures for drainage work, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 8pm June 20 to 6am June 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Marcham, slip road and lane closures for drainage work, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 8pm June 22 to 6am June 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Milton, slip road and lane closures for drainage work, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 10pm June 23 to 6am August 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree to Islip, diversion route only for Oxfordshire County Council works.

• A34, from 8pm June 27 to 6am June 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Chilton, slip road and lane closures for drainage work, diversion via National Highways network.

West Oxfordshire's motorists will have two road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures are due to start this week:

• A34, from 8pm June 16 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree to Kidlington, Lane closures for barrier repairs.

• A34, from 10pm June 23 to 6am August 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound and southbound, Peartree to Islip, diversion route only for Oxfordshire County Council works.

South Oxfordshire

Drivers in and around South Oxfordshire will have 18 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 10pm June 11 to 6am June 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 5, entry slip road closure for maintenance work, diversion via Local authority roads and National Highways Network.

• M40, from 10pm June 11 to 6am June 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6, carriageway closure for maintenance work, diversion via Local authority roads and National Highways Network.

• A40, from 8pm May 25 to 6am June 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 7 to junction 1, mobile lane closure for white lining.

And a further 15 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M40, from 7pm June 13 to 6am June 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 9 to junction 7, Lane closures for structure inspections.

• M40, from 9pm June 13 to 6am June 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 7 to junction 8a, Lane closures for structures inspections.

• M40, from 9.30pm June 13 to 6am June 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 8, exit slip road closed for structures inspections, diversion via National Highways Network.

• M40, from 9.30pm June 13 to 6am June 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 8a, exit slip road closed for structures inspections, diversion via National Highways Network.

• M40, from 10pm June 15 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, carriageway closure for maintenance work, diversion via local authority roads and National Highways Network.

• M40, from 10pm June 15 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M40, from 10pm June 15 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 6, entry slip road closure for maintenance work, diversion via local authority roads and National Highways Network.

• A34, from 8pm June 27 to 6am June 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Chilton, slip road and lane closures for drainage work, diversion via National Highways network.

• M40, from 9.30pm June 27 to 6am June 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closure for maintenance work.

• M40, from 9.30pm June 27 to 6am June 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closure for maintenance work.

Cherwell

Drivers in and around Cherwell will have 26 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

But motorists will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A34, from 8pm June 10 to 6am June 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Islip, slip road and lane closures for drainage work, diversion via National Highways network.

• A34, from 8pm June 7 to 6am June 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 southbound, Weston on the Green, slip road and lane closures for signage repairs, diversion via National Highways network.

• A43, from 1pm May 12 to 6am June 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A43 northbound and southbound, Ardley to Brackley, slip road, layby and lane closures with diversion route due to maintenance works.

• A43, from 9pm March 28 to 6am August 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A43 northbound and southbound, Cherwell services to Baynards Green roundabout, Lane closures due to survey works.

And a further 22 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A34, from 8pm June 13 to 6am June 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A34 northbound, Weston on the Green to M40, junction 9, Lane closures for resurfacing work.

• A34, from 9.30pm June 13 to 6am June 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 8a, entry slip closed for structures inspections, diversion via National Highways Network.
