VIOLENCE and sexual offences are the most reported crimes in Didcot as well as anti-social behaviour and public orders.
Data from Police UK, the national website for policing in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, revealed that 1,102 of the 2,403 crimes reported in the last 12 months were for violence and sexual offences.
A total of 2,568 of the 6,297 crimes reported in the last three years were also for violence and sexual offences.

Data from the last month shows that almost half of the reported crimes were of the same offence with 101 out of 210.
The second most reported crime in the town is public order which is an offence that “causes fear, alarm or distress”.
In the last month, 28 public orders have been reported out of 210 crimes and in the last year a total of 298 have been reported out of 2,403 crimes.
However, a total of 541 public order offences have been reported in the last three years. More reports were made about criminal damage and arson at 558 reports and anti-social behaviour at 967 reporters.
Anti-social behaviour, which includes “personal, environmental and nuisance anti-social behaviour”, is the third most reported crime. Twenty have been reported in the last month and 293 in the last year.

Criminal damage and arson is the fourth most reported with 190 in the last year and 12 in the last month, only two incidents behind theft.
In the last month there has also been 11 reports of shoplifting, eight reports of “other crime”, five reports of drugs, four reports of vehicle crime, four reports of burglary, one report of theft from the person, one report of robbery and one report of possession of weapons.
Statistic for the last year are 133 reports of other theft, 113 reports of shoplifting, 61 reports of burglary, 56 reports of vehicle crime, 46 reports of drugs, 36 reports of other crime, 32 reports of theft from the person, 16 reporters of bicycle theft, 16 reports of possession of weapons and 11 reports of robbery.
Out of 2,403 of the crimes reported in the last year, 764 have been “unable to prosecute” and 458 have led to “no suspect being identified”.
Only three offenders were given a fine while 34 offenders were given a caution. A total of 45 are awaiting a court outcome and 328 are still under investigation.

Over the last year, reports of crime in Didcot range from about 160 reports a month to about 270 compared with Wallingford which ranges from 96 to 170 per month. However, monthly reports in Abingdon range from 180 to 290.
