A knitted post-box topper has vanished from Abingdon town centre.
Children’s favourite Postman Pat – and his black and white cat – made by a mystery crocheter first appeared in Abingdon Market Place in February to mark World Book Day.
It is thought the post box topper that spread happiness in the town has been taken.
Shocked the mystery crocheter posted on Facebook and said: “It’s gone. Postman Pat has been taken I am both annoyed and disappointed.
“Let’s try the power of Facebook to see if we can get him back.

“If you know where he is please please return him it takes me an awful lot of time to make these, and I put them out for all to enjoy which I know they do.”
Residents commented on the Facebook post sad that the woolly yarn bomb had been taken.
Lynne Harwood commented on Abingdon on Thames Facebook group: “What is wrong with people, leave these things alone. They bring a smile to our faces which is much needed at the moment.”
Leah West said: “People can be so cruel.”

On the Abingdon Facebook group Sally Bunce said: “I can understand wanting it because it is so lovely, but please let us all enjoy it. Please return it.”
This is not the first time the mystery crocheters work has been taken. It is thought the Christmas nativity scene was also stolen.
