A GROUP of brave fundraisers faced the razors and shaved their heads to raise funds for brain tumour research in memory of a sorely-missed two-year-old.

Surrounded by smiles and memories, friends and family raised a total of £5,275.

The event, Brave the Shave for Albie and Beyond, was organised by Lauren and Hayley Bayliss-Watts, whose son Albie died last year after a fight with the disease.

The couple, from Didcot, have made it their mission to raise awareness and much needed funding for brain tumour research. They say want to put in all the effort they can to try and avoid anyone else going through the same suffering.

Mum Lauren said: “We miss Albie so much it's heartbreaking. The only thing that feels like we can cope is making a difference.

"Only one percent of research funding goes to brain tumours yet brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40.

“Making a difference and raising money for Brain Tumour Research helps us get through the tough days and that’s why we have made a fundraising group with the charity.”

Ten people shaved their heads, including Albie’s mum, Hayley, and family friend Kylie Sear, who is battling a brain tumour herself.

The fundraising group, Albie and Beyond, was created under the umbrella of national charity Brain Tumour Research to help find a cure for brain tumours.
