A MAN who had a machete in a public place has been jailed for three months.
Luis Cristiano Gomez Rodrigues, 24 of Fitzwaryn Place, Wantage pleaded guilty on December 27, 2021 at Oxford Magistrates' Court to possessing a knife in a public place.
On Christmas Day, Rodrigues had a machete with a blade in excess of nine inches in his possession without good reason or lawful authority on Newbury Street.

The offence of having a dangerous weapon in a public place was seen to be so serious that Rodrigues was committed to three months in prison.
The defendant was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £128 and costs of £85, totalling £213 to be paid by April 17, 2022.
