The future remains uncertain for the famous plane statue at the entrance of the Grove Business Park after storm Eunice caused it to come crashing down.
Chris Douch recalled the moment he saw the plane collapse. He said he had been driving towards Wantage from Gove at around 10.30am when he saw the plane ‘swinging heavily’ in the wind.
He said: “It suddenly fell, rocking slightly back and forth before crashing onto the grass below. It all happened so quickly. It was one of the most surreal things I’ve ever seen."

He added: “The aeroplane has been an important fixture of the local community for many years and represent a great deal to those who live here. It stood proudly next to the Grove Airfield, overlooking a roundabout that my children have always known as ‘The Aeroplane Roundabout’. It’s going to be really missed by everyone who lives and works in the local area."
The aeroplane is seen as an important fixture in the community, but it is not known when the structure will be fixed.
Boston House Business Centre based at Grove Business Park explained they do not own the land that the plane was on and does not know 'what is going on with it' or when it will be fixed.
However, the community have hopes the plane will return.
Villager Karen Brooker said: “It will be back up, mark my words. This village will come together if need be to ensure it takes pride of place again."
