A GROUP of poets have launched a competition to find and publish some of the best verse written about Abingdon.
Abingdon Share a Poem group are looking to publish a book called 'Ten Poems About Abingdon', and the writers are seeking entries from other people in the town.
Poet and group member Alastair Fear said he has already written 15 poems about the town and he is on the look out for 10 good quality poems from other writers to publish in the book.
He said: "One of our members wrote a poem about Abingdon and everyone really liked it, so we decided to write more and create a book."

Mr Fear is encouraging anyone to enter into the competition no matter their skill level.
The deadline for entry is January 31. The poems can be ones you have written or poems which can be re-printed with acknowledgement. The final selection will be made by a well known local poet who is yet to be revealed. The book will be sold at cost price and free copies sent to entrants.
