I'm looking for celebrationsJoseph Haynes

HAYNES Joseph 92, took his final curtain call in the early hours of the morning on Saturday 8th April 2023. Joe was born in Horwich, Lancashire in 1931, the youngest of three siblings. He married Moyra in 1962 and moved to Abingdon shortly afterwards, allowing him to take up his position as lecturer in mathematical engineering at the Oxford College of Further Education, where he stayed until his retirement in the 1990s. His two great passions in life were running and singing. In his younger life he was an accomplished 400-metre runner and then, like all 'great' athletes (!) he moved up in distance as he got older, completing the Abingdon Marathon in his fifties. He sang for both the Abingdon and Oxford Operatic Societies, performing in such classics as My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, and, of course, The Pirates of Penzance. He also loved choral singing and featured in many local choirs. The funeral will take place at midday on Wednesday 10th May at South Oxfordshire crematorium. All are welcome. Family flowers only; donations to Dementia UK via SR Childs, Abingdon.Your tribute has been received.
