I knew Janet at work through being involved with the Trade Union. We had a competition throughout our working life to be the employee with the longest service record though neither of us thought we'd be working there so long. She was there when I joined work in 1975 and still working when I retired in 2019 so I guess she won that one! I so enjoyed her piece she wrote a few years back about working life at NRPB/HPA/PHE including Christmas Parties and the "big snow" of 1981/2 and of characters who came and went during her working time there. The piece was written with wit and charm which sums up her character. RIP Janet you will be missed.

Janet was a good friend. She could literally have you crying with laughter one minute and talking seriously the next. She was a one off. I feel blessed to have known her. Her challenges with cancer and it’s treatment over the last few years, were so sad. Hope you’re giving em what for in heaven Jan & Jems is running around with you. xx

Janet was my secretary at NRPB for about 10years and stuck with me from Department Head to Assistant Director. We had an excellent working relationship and she never took me too seriously - as all who knew her would expect. I think it was she who persuaded me to dress up as Anna Fraud in one of the Christmas productions - typical!

Janet was my secretary for five years, always looking out for my welfare despite the huge challenges that the faced with her own health and that of her family. She was hugely loved and respected by those around her at work, as well as being a great fund of knowledge for me and others. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.

Like many others I worked with Janet. She loved to chat and we had many of these over the years. Quite the character, who had a lovely caring side when you got to know her. She will be missed by many.

Janet and I both started working for NRPB/HPA in the year 1973 and we were friends from that day (49 years) she was my best friend and closest friend and I will miss her very much and she is always in my thoughts.

I had the pleasure of working with Janet at NRPB/HPA and PHE for many years. Janet was there before I started and was there after I left. Janet was a force of nature and much loved. She will be greatly missed.

Janet was a great friend and colleague.
When I had my very mild brush with cancer she automatically gave me a lot of support and practical advice.
She also had a wicked sense of humour.
I will miss her.
