WOOD Audrey Passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on 27th October 2022. A public funeral service will be held at South Oxfordshire Memorial Park and Crematorium on Wednesday, 16th November at 1:00pm. Audrey's family requests that donations be made in her honour to WaterAid, in lieu of flowers. All enquiries c/o M&J Didcock Funeral Service, 15-17 Park Road, Didcot, OX11 8QL. Our condolences to Matthew, Simon, and Tim, to Audrey's lovely daughters in law, and to Audrey's much-loved little Florence.
We feel so honoured to have called Audrey our friend; to have laughed with her, worked with her, shared a memorable holiday in Italy where she inspired us all to paint, and where the song 'Someone Like You' left her with silent tears; to have spent many evenings together enjoying food, wine, chocolate, canasta and occasional mild swearing. Thank you, Audrey, for bringing reason and patience to those evenings.
Audrey had, it's fair to say, a few years on my husband and I, and yet, when we and our friends were all together, the generations disappeared. It was as though Audrey was always young, always vibrant, kind, funny, spontaneous but considerate and truly the sweetest of ladies. Only once did we hear Audrey say something very mildly mean about another person, and her so doing surprised us all so much that, whilst she was immediately apologising for what she perceived to be a faux pas, we were all erupting into surprised laughter...
Audrey was kind and a beautiful gentle soul, and we loved her.
Oh Audrey Darling, we are so sad that you've left the party. We wish you safe onward travels and hope that you are able keep a watchful eye over little Florrie. When we are next together with Charles, we three shall raise a glass of Cointreau to our girl. Someone Like You, Audrey... someone in a million...
