ABINGDON'S picturesque market square is encircled by a range of businesses vying to feed passers-by, from independents like the popular Java cafe and Throwing Buns to the coffee chain Costa.
Pablo Lounge is a more recent addition, having replaced Wildwood in March 2018 at the corner of the Bury Street shopping precinct.
We headed there on a drizzly Sunday morning, in search of a more substantial breakfast than the toast and pastries proffered elsewhere.
The restaurant is part of a wider chain known as The Lounges, with a different name given to each one, inspired by the location.
Abingdon's was based on the town's link to Radiohead, whose first album was named Pablo Honey.

The chain pitches its restaurants as a 'home from home', and the decor inside does make it seem like you're walking into a grand country house.
Vintage-style floral wallpaper peeks out beneath dozens of framed paintings, with dark wooden flooring and chintz-printed armchairs.

Tom's smoked salmon version was exactly as hoped, with oozing eggs coated in a silky sauce and sprinkling of chives.
For the price and relaxed surroundings, I would happily return to try it out for lunch or dinner.
