A popular sandwich shop in south Oxfordshire is permanently closing this summer.
Soph’s Loafs on St Peter’s Place in Wallingford opened in 2021 and has become a firm favourite with local residents and tourists alike.
The team including Sophie, Lucy and Lucy have served various sandwiches and baguettes to Oxfordshire folk for years, but are stopping at the end of this summer.
In a post on Facebook, the news of Soph’s Loafs’ closure was revealed leaving customers shocked.

The statement said: “To all our gorgeous customers, suppliers, family and friends, we have some news we would like to share with you all.
“We have made the decision to close Soph’s Loafs and the sandwich round and shop will continue to run until August 30.
“I’m sure there will be lots of tears (from us) but thank goodness it’s Bunkfest weekend so we can drown our sorrows.
“Catering will continue until the end of September and we are still taking bookings, so feel free to drop us an email for any catering requests you may have.”

“As many of you know we are coming up to five years of Soph’s Loafs in September; it’s been a rollercoaster.
“We got to the other side of a pandemic, a cost of living crisis and much more craziness along the way.
“This has NOT been an easy decision, but The Loaf has come to a natural end for us.
“I cannot tell you how incredibly proud I am of all we have achieved as a team, and how far we have come.

“We started by selling baguettes in the back of a car, and have ended up with a sandwich round, a shop and a catering business.”
The owners also dedicated a portion of the statement to the customers, thanking them for their business and support over the years.
“We would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for all of the support from you guys, our families and friends, you guys have kept us going and we are eternally grateful,” added the statement.
“We really are finishing on a high and we are all super excited for the next chapters in our lives.
“I’m sure you will see the 3 of us together again not too far into the future doing something wild!
