A SMALL bat was saved by a woman in Wantage after she found it on the path in front of her home.

Jayne Rolfe found the animal yesterday afternoon (20) and put it in a box with water and something to cling to and kept it in her spare bedroom.

She called the bat conservation who put her in touch with an expert.

On the Wantage and Grove Facebook group, Ms Rolfe said: “The expert told us it’s a female, fully grown young adult pipistrel. We are going to release her tonight at dusk.

“She seems fine, she’s had a drink, so hopefully she will be strong enough to fly later.”

Many people thanked Ms Rolfe for moving the bat from the path with one resident commenting: “You’re braver than me”.
