Oxfordshire County Council - Abingdon Marathon

(Traffic Regulation in Abingdon and Radley) (Special Event) Order 2011

NOTICE is given that on 3rd October 2011 Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above Order under Section l6A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The order will be in effect on the morning of Sunday 16th October 2011

This Order is to facilitate the holding of the Babyrunner.com Abingdon Marathon 2011 based at Tilsley Park, Abingdon which is being promoted on behalf of the Abingdon Marathon Committee by Mr David Basham, Garden Cottage, The Green, Turweston, Brackley, Northants NN13 5JX.

The Council is satis?ed that the event cannot be held wholly off road and that it in die interest of road safety that vehicular traffic should be temporarily restricted.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit all vehicles between approximately 8am and 9.45am from using the section of Dunmore Road eastwards from Tilsley Park and Twelve Acre Drive (between the Oxford Road and Audlett DriveI Radley Road roundabouts) including closure of the roundabout junction of Dunmore Road, Twelve Acre Drive and Oxford Road, and the section of Radley Road from Audlett Drive toThrupp Lane, Radley.

Exemptions will be included for emergency services, event safety vehicles and for emergency works to roads and mains services (drainage, water; gas, electricity, and telecommunications) in and adjoining the closed lengths of roads.

Altemative routes for traffic affected by the closure are;

For westbound traffic via Whites Lane, Radley,The Avenue, St Swithuns Road, BagIeyWood Road, Kennington, Oxford Road, Foxcombe Road & Fox Lane, Boars Hill, B40 I 7 Wootton, Wootton Road, Abingdon 81 Bath Street, Stratton Way, Vineyard, Radley Road and Audlett Drive.

For eastbound traf?c via Audlett Drive, Radley Road,Vineyard, Stert Street, High Street, Stratton Way, Bath Street, Wootton Road, Abingdon, B40 I 7 Wootton, Fox Lane 8: Foxcombe Road, Boars Hill to Oxford Road, Bagley Wood Road, St Swithuns Road & The Avenue, Kennington, and Whites Lane, Radley.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposed Order are available for public inspection at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OX1 1ND from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday, and at Abingdon Library, The Charter, Abingdon from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm Monday to Wednesday and Friday, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Thursday and from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm on Saturday.
